Make .docx compatible with Openoffice.org

This is something I missed in Ubuntu … Openoffice.org is fine with me except that It doesn’t open my previously created .docx files and here’s the trick to make it done.

  • Go http://www.getdeb.net/archive//od/ (see comments) and download the “odf converter” for your architecture.
  • Install the downloaded file ( you should be able to, after all its just a self-installing .deb file )

and its done.As easy as it could be.

You may face a little lag while opening the .docx files but you get it working right so don’t complain.

  1. 404 not found any way to get around this problem?

I think they removed the file from their server. Anyway, I have uploaded a .deb for the 64-bit hardy here :

Anyway OO 3 beta supports .docx natively. Try getting that.
